Originally hailing from rural North Yorkshire, Aidan began his musical career as a cornet player in a local brass band, later converting to the french horn.  He went on to read Music at the University of Birmingham and following this was awarded a post-graduate scholarship to study performance at the Royal Northern College of Music.  Whilst at the RNCM, Aidan free-lanced in various orchestras, including Manchester Camerata and was the soloist in concertos by Strauss, Mozart and Haydn.  In 2004, Aidan completed a PGCE at the Institute of Education in London and following this became Music Teacher and latterly Assistant Head of Music at the Latymer School in Enfield, north London.  In this role he directed numerous choral and orchestral performances, including at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and St. Mark’s Basilica, Venice.  In 2011, Aidan became Director of Music at Manchester High School for Girls, where he oversees both the curricular and extra-curricular music making in the school, with annual highlights including performances at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester Cathedral, as well as European Tours.  Aidan is a brass tutor for the Stockport Youth Orchestra and musical director of the Philharmonic Choir of Manchester.  He lives in West Didsbury with his wife and two young children.
