7:30 St Paul’s Church, Withington M20 4AW

In this concert we’ll feature two work by the Austrian composer Joseph Haydn (1732-1809).

Haydn’s Te Deum and Nelson Mass.

Firstly, we’ll present his Missa in angustiis (Mass for troubled times), commonly known as the Nelson Mass. This is a setting of the Latin mass which formed part of Catholic Church services. It is one of the six masses that he wrote near the end of his life which that are seen as the culmination of his composition of church music (Wikipedia).

And we’ll also perform his Te Deum, another piece in Latin, but this is a Christian hymn dating from the earliest centuries of the Christianity.
